Charles University Moves up in the Prestigious International Ranking of Disciplinary Comparisons

According to the newly published international QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Charles University has improved in three fields – history, linguistics, and philosophy. Amongst other fields, it is now one of the best schools in the global comparison in the field of archaeology.

In total, CU was ranked in 25 subjects; in 22 of them, Charles University is the highest-ranked Czech university. A total of 5,000 universities were part of the aforementioned evaluation, with 1,559 appearing in the published results. In addition, in a total of four disciplines – archaeology, philosophy, political science and international studies, and geography – it was ranked among the top 150 schools in the world.

I am extremely pleased that Charles University is constantly expanding the range of disciplines that are included in the rankings in prestigious international rankings. It proves that even with great diversity and a really wide range of individual faculties it is possible to achieve excellent results,” Charles University Rector Milena Králíčková said in response to the published results.

It bears mentioning that this year, Charles University is the only university in the Czech Republic to be classified in the fields of the English language and literature, philosophy, history, modern languages, media and communication studies, political science and international studies, sociology, pharmacy and pharmacology, geophysics, geography, geology, and Earth sciences.
