Intensive Study Program Workshop Was Held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University

The third and last meeting of the TEH21: Teaching European History in the 21st Century project took place on 20–22 May. The focus of the ISP was mainly the critical discussion about selected chapters from the forthcoming transnational textbook of European history along with a collective production of video lectures, on which students cooperated with the authors of the chapters.

The three-day programme, preceded by an informal get-together in Scout Institute, also included a lecture by prof. Lars Behrisch (Utrecht University) on countries, revolutions, and the development of European democracy in the early modern period, visit of Náprstek Museum with a lecture from prof. Markéta Křížová, and thematic sightseeing of Prague.

A total of twenty-four student participants, or lecturers, consisted of representatives from Utrecht University, The Autonomous University of Madrid, Humboldt University of Berlin, the ELTE University of Budapest, and Charles University organized this meeting in May. The hosting institution was represented by the Institute of Czech History at CU FA (Lucie Dvořáková, Hana Štěpová, Natálie Lisnerová, Tatiana Tikhonova) and several lecturers who were involved in the writing of the textbook: Dr. Jan Zdichynec from the Institute of Czech History, and others from the Institute of World History at CU FA: Dr. Mikuláš Pešta, Dr. Tomáš Masař, and Dr. Jaroslav Ira, who as a representative of Charles University in the TEH21 consortium organized this meeting.

The whole event offered a unique opportunity for an international gathering where students could talk in an informal atmosphere with experts from several prominent European universities, critically assess their work, and participate in creating teaching materials.
