Four Weeks for the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, at Jan Palach Square

Since the main building of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, will be closed for at least the whole of January, Jan Palach Square will become a gathering place for the whole university community but also the general public. The return of academic life to the square and the main building of CU FA is a necessary part of coming to terms with the tragic event, which has changed the lives of our whole community in a brief moment.

In January, Four Weeks for the Faculty of Arts, Charles University will be held at Jan Palach Square. The initiative will create a space for slow regeneration of the faculty community and a space for reverence.

The first event will be the “Carrying of Light” procession held a fortnight after the tragedy. The procession will set off from Carolinum (Rectorate of Charles University) and will go to Jan Palach Square, where a fire of reverence will be lit and maintained for the whole month. At the same time, the remembrance sites in front of Carolinum and the main building of CU FA will be carried over as well. The procession is organized by representatives of Charles University student societies.
