Researchers from CU FA Were Awarded at the Embassy of the French Republic

On Thursday, 30 September 2021, the Embassy of the French Republic awarded prizes in research to young talented researchers from Czech universities and research institutions at the French Institute. The PhD student from the Institute of Translation Studies at CU FA, Mgr. Michal Zahálka, has been awarded Jacques Derrida Prize, and Dr Jan Koura from the Institute of World History at CU FA has won the CEFRES Platform special award.

The first place of Jacques Derrida Prize, awarded in social sciences and humanities, won Mgr. Michal Zahálka for the research in his dissertation work in preparation. Czech Stage Alexandrine, or French Verse Drama of 17th-19th Century in Czech Translations from the beginnings to Present Day.

Dr Jan Koura won the CEFRES Platform special award for journal article in humanities of the year called A Prominent Sky: Mehdi Ben Barka, Czechoslovak Intelligence, and Eastern Bloc Espionage in the Third World during the Cold War in Intelligence and National Security journal.

The Embassy of the French Republic in the Czech Republic has awarded scientific prizes in seven categories. This year, 71 researchers have participated in the competition, the Embassy has awarded 23 of them.
