The Centre for Irish Studies Hosts a Conference Dedicated to the Irish Author Brendan Behan

The conference Brendan Behan at 100: Legacy and New Directions will take place on 23–24 June 2023. Marking the centenary of the birth of the Irish author, playwright, and rebel, the conference intends to reconsider his rich literary legacy.

It offers two days of panels focusing on different aspects of Behan’s work, as well as keynote sessions by Prof. John Brannigan (University College Dublin) and Dr Deirdre McMahon, who created a documentary for RTÉ Radio 1.

The conference will also feature an evening of traditional Irish music, including some songs from the Behan family repertoire, at Kavárna Liberál. Performing will be the Czech band Conamara Chaos, with special guests David Livingstone and Matthew Sweney.

You may find more information on the conference website or in the Facebook event.
