4EU+ Alliance

The 4EU+ European University Alliance comprises the following universities: Charles University, Heidelberg University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, Sorbonne University in Paris, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Geneva, the University of Milan, and the University of Warsaw.

  • projects that strengthen long-term cooperation within the 4EU+ Alliance and demonstrate substantial innovation potential within the academic environment or on a global scale
  • a proposal for special support may be submitted by a member of the Rector’s Board responsible, faculty Vice-Dean in charge of for 4EU+ or university’s representative in one of the 4EU+ Flagships

  • support of teamwork within the 4EU+ Alliance
  • at least two other 4EU+ universities must be involved in the project
  • projects must be in line with the 4EU+ Alliance Mission Statement and correspond to one of the four selected thematic areas (known as Flagships)
  • support can be used to organize meetings with foreign partners (conferences, workshops, etc.) – these must take place at Charles University, joint research and educational projects, creation of materials supporting alliance cooperation for educational purposes

  • the deadlines for submitting applications are always April 15 or October 15 of the given year
  • projects start: CU reserves up to two months for the administrative processing of selection procedure after the deadline, we therefore recommend starting projects no earlier than the end of June for the spring term and no earlier than January for the fall term

  • confirmation that the faculty administrative coordinator has been informed (an email is sufficient)

  • 4EU+ Bridging projects replace the previous non-project mobility scheme
  • mobilities that take place at partner universities of the 4EU+ Alliance without being linked to a specific approved project
  • mobilities that do not take place at partner institutions, but have an obvious link to the Alliance activities (e.g. conferences, presentations of cooperation results, networking)
  • the mobility is always administered as business trip
  • aimed at adminsirative staff as well
  • employees working under DPP/DPČ contracts may apply for support if their employment agreement allows it

  • fill in the basic information about the planned mobility – the link of the mobility to the Alliance must always be specified in the application justification
  • required approvals (from faculty coordinators, supervisors, heads, etc.) can be provided in the form of email correspondence.

Application documents:

  • written consent of the FA CU Head of the Department/Institute
  • planned budget (don’t forget to include statutory per diems)

The Calls are open 4 times a year, each for the following two quarters (during the given period it is only necessary to start the mobility, not to complete it).

Due to limited funding, the following types of mobility will be given priority in the call for applications, with a submission deadline from June 1 to June 15:

  • short-term mobilities up to 5 days
  • mobilities of applicants who have not yet received funding under 4EU+
  • mobilities to alliance-wide activities

CU deadlines:

  • 15 March for mobilities from 1 April till 30 September
  • 15 June for mobilities from 1 July till 20 November (the business trip accounting and the reimbursement request to the Rectorate must be done by the end of November, trips in December are not possible according to the rules)
  • 15 September for mobilities from 1 October till 20 November + 1 January till 31 March (the business trip accounting and the reimbursement request to the Rectorate must be done by the end of November, trips in December are not possible)
  • 15 December for mobilities from 1 January till 30 June

Applications can be submitted from the beginning of the month of the given deadline.

  • successful applicants will eceive a confirmed budget – the 4EU+ funding rules must be respected when planning the trip
  • the business trip will be processed at the FA CU, which will then apply for reimbursement from the Rectorate – detailed information will be sent to successful applicants by e-mail from the International Relations Office
  • it is obligatory to submit the accounting documents within 10 working days upon return
  • short-term stay at another 4EU+ university
  • participants may give lectures, lead research projects, develop joint training programmes or participate in the organisation of scientific workshops and conferences
  • the selection procedure is announced once a year

Online information meeting: 30 June 2026 at 1 pm – registration

  • duration of stay min. 3weeks, max. 6 weeks
  • the mobility must take place between 1 January and mid-November 2027 (due to the need for timely accounting and reimbursement from CU which must be completed by 31 November 2027)
  • targeted at two types of researchers:

    1) Early Career Visiting Professorships (2–10 years after completing PhD))
    2) Standard Visiting professorships
  • the applicant must be employed at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University on a full/part time basis (not DPP, DPČ)
  • applicants may not simultaneously submit an application for a SEED4EU+ project under the 2026/27 Call

  • support for short-term internships within research and educational teams
  • development of joint materials to support virtual mobility
  • the applicant for financial support must be employed at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University on a full/part time basis (a minimum of 0.5)
  • the maximum amount that can be applied for is 100 000 CZK
  • in addition to the project supervisor, the proposed project must involve a partner from a Ukrainian university participating in the Eastern Partnership University Cluster or another university located in the Dnipro region
  • one applicant may receive support a maximum of three times
  • applications for financial support shall be submitted continuously and electronically via online form
  • seed funding for the project implementation to foster 4EU+ cooperation among member universities

  • duration: projects can last up to 12 months, with an expected start date of 1 January

  • this Call is focused exclusively on scientific activities
  • funding: maximum EUR 40 000 per project
  • the expected start date of the project is 1 January 2027
  • all paid activities must be completed by mid-November 2027 at the latest (to allow for timely billing and reimbursement from CU, which must be completed by 30 November 2027)
