The last Friday in September once again marked the traditional science festival, where scientific and educational institutions across the Czech Republic opened their doors to curious visitors, both young and old. Charles University participated and welcomed the public in five of its buildings in Prague and Hradec Králové, including the main building of CU FA.

CU Statement on the Floods: Helping Victims and the Safety of our Whole Academia Is Our First Priority
On the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Central Crisis Staff of CU was activated, and additional measures were taken to ensure the safety of students, employees, and the academic community. The Management of CU communicates with faculties and other units. We are monitoring the situation in Prague, Plzeň, and Hradec Králové.

At the end of the international Prague Summer School of Chinese Poetry, organized by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation International Sinology Centre att Charles University in early September, Prof Maghiel van Crevel from the University of Leiden presented Dr Šárka Masárová with a precious gift for the library of the Department of Sinology at CU FA.

Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Will Host the International Conference on Chinese, Indian, and Japanese Philosophy
The conference “Society for Asian and Comparative Philosophy: Philosophical Encounters” will be held on 16–18 September 2024 at the main building of CU FA. The co-organisers are the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation International Sinological Centre at CU, the Department of Sinology at CU FA, the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at CU FA.

This year, Charles University is defending the prestigious HR Award certificate and one of the evaluated criteria is ethics. As part of creating an inclusive environment, the university adopted its first Equal Opportunities Plan to create an inclusive environment, created the position of CU ombudsman and established the CU Equal Opportunities Board.

The symposium within the OP JAK CoRe project titled “Preaching and Conflict: 24th International Medieval Sermon Studies Symposium” took place on 11–16 July 2024 in Prague. The conference was co-organized by Prof Lucie Doležalová from the Institute of Greek and Latin Studies at CU FA and Dr Pavel Soukup from the Centre for Medieval Studies at the CAS
