The position of Extraordinary Professor may be established by the Rector for an area of education in which Charles University holds institutional accreditation.
The position may be held by an individual who has attained a status abroad comparable to that of an Associate Professor or Full Professor, or by a distinguished expert with at least 20 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
The title does not entitle its holder to use the academic abbreviation “prof.” before their name. However, in connection with their academic activities, the individual may use the designation “mimořádný profesor Univerzity Karlovy” in Czech, or “Extraordinary Professor at Charles University” in English.
The Rector makes separate decisions regarding the establishment of the position and the appointment of an individual to it.
The position is established on the basis of a proposal from the Faculty’s Scientific Council; the title is conferred following deliberation by the University’s Scientific Council.
Proposals for the establishment and appointment to the position may be submitted concurrently.
