Doc. Michal Pullmann Becomes the New Dean of CUFA

As of 1 February 2018, doc. Michal Pullmann has become Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Doc. Pullmann received his appointment decree from the Rector of Charles University on 25 January 2018 and was elected to the office for the period 2018-2022 by the CUFA Academic Senate on 9 November 2017.

Doc. Michal Pullmann is a CUFA alumnus, having studied History and Sociology. Since 2010, he has been Director of the Department of Economic and Social History, CUFA, where he made his habilitation in 2014 with a thesis on The End of the Experiment. Reconstruction and Fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia.

In his field, doc. Pullmann focuses on social and economic history in the twentieth century, on the history of state socialism (with focus on social and economic processes), history of historiography and methodology. He teaches modern social history (with focus on social history of Europe), history of communist dictatorships (with focus on the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia), and social history methodology.

As Dean of CUFA for 2018-2022, doc. Pullmann has chosen three priorities: solidarity, open communication, and transparency.
