Call for Papers
Diachrony and Suppletion
25-26 September 2015
Institute of Comparative Linguistics
Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague
As part of our ongoing research project “Diachronic Typology of Suppletion“, we invite scholars from the fields of Indo-European and Semitic linguistics, as well as specialists in morphological theory and typology, to share their views on suppletion in general, and in particular on suppletion in relation to:
1. inflectional vs. derivational paradigms;
2. agglutination vs. cumulation;
3. linguistic units (morphoneme, morpheme, word, phrase);
4. borderline phenomena; and
5. diachronic replacement and renewal.
We also welcome contributions on suppletion from acquisitional or cognitive perspectives, as well as research making use of data from other language families.
The conference will begin on the morning of Friday, 25 September and run until the afternoon of Saturday, 26 September. Abstracts not exceeding 1000 words should be sent by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 30 June 2015. Paper presentations will last 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions. The working language of the conference is English.
Please refer to the conference website suppletion2015.ff.cuni.cz for further notices and updates. We look forward to seeing you in Prague in September!
