Guest Lecture: The Origins of Critical Criminology: From Homer to Renaissance

The Department of Sociology at CU FA cordially invites you to a guest lecture by Prof. Stratos Georgoulas (Department of Sociology, University of the Aegean) on The Origins of Critical Criminology: From Homer to Renaissance.

The lecture explores how crime, deviance, and social theories are creations of their time. It focuses on the historical, cultural, and contextual roots of critical criminology, which are often ignored, and considers how they relate to the current critical criminology.
The lecture draws on criminology, sociology, classical studies, history, philosophy, ancient literature, and politics.

Professor Georgoulas is an author of a 3-volume book entitled The Origins of Radical Criminology (Springer):
Volume 1
Volume 2
The third volume is to be published within the next few days.
