Dr Magali Paquot: “The impact of the first language on EFL learners’ use of phraseology: Insights from learner corpus research”

Dr Magali Paquot is a permanent FNRS research associate at the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics, Institut Langage et Communication, Université catholique de Louvain, and an affiliate member of the Corpus Linguistics Lab, University of Florida. She holds a PhD in Linguistics (Université catholique de Louvain) and a degree in Natural Language Processing (Université de Liège). She is co-editor in chief (with Marcus Callies, Bremen University) of the International Journal of Learner Corpus Research and a founding member of the Learner Corpus Research Association (with her colleagues Gaëtanelle Gilquin, Sylviane Granger and Fanny Meunier). She is the director of the international project ‘Varieties of English for Specific Purposes dAtabase (VESPA)’, which aims to compile and analyze a learner corpus of academic writing representing a wide range of disciplines and text types, and a newly appointed member of IRIS Advisory Group.
