Prague, 27 April 2026 – The Department of Romance Studies of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, in collaboration with Sorbonne Université, has been authorized to realize the SELFEE certification exam directly on the premises of CU FA. Those interested in taking the prestigious language exam can now do so in Prague, where the Faculty of Arts serves as a branch centre of SELFEE Sorbonne Université.
“Being authorized to realize the SELFEE certification exam directly on the premises of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University is the result of long-term academic work and the initiative of numerous members of the faculty from the French section of the Department of Romance Studies. Students are now offered the opportunity to earn a prestigious international degree in an environment they distinctly know,” says chair of the Department of Romance Studies at CU FA, prof. Pavel Štichauer. Magdalena Kučerová, Záviš Šuman, and Míla Janišová from the Institute of Romance Studies additionally played a vital role in finalizing the agreement with Sorbonne Université.
The certificate is primarily intended for university students with an intermediate to advanced levels of knowledge of French at levels B1 to C1, though registrations are open for everyone. The exam assesses comprehensive language skills in an academic context. The B1 level provides excellent preparation for students planning to participate in the Erasmus program in a French-speaking country. At the B2 level, the exam includes a grammar test, reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension, and an oral section. At the C1 level, it focuses primarily on written and oral academic expression, working with texts, and understanding specialized audio or video materials.
Among the main benefits of the certificate are a diploma issued directly by Sorbonne Université, the opportunity to study at a university in France without any additional language exams, an assessment of previous university studies, and the practical application of acquired language skills.
In addition to the aforementioned Department of Romance Studies, East and Central European Studies (ECES) is also involved in realizing the exam.
