Commencement of the Academic Year by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University

Dear colleagues,

On Friday, 1 October, the new academic year begins at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Since we still cannot rule out the risk of spreading of the disease at social events, I have decided that the ceremonial opening of the academic year, during which we usually meet in the great hall, will not be held even in this year.

Allow me, at least in this form, to wish you strength and patience in the next semester. I believe that we will be blessed and will enjoy peacefully the upcoming academic year and aim our focus fully to our studies, research, and spreading of the faculty’s great reputation.

Finally, I would like to ask all students and employees of the faculty, if possible, to vaccinate yourselves against the COVID-19 disease in order to protect the health of all of us. Whether we successfully cope with the upcoming academic year depends now not only on our specializations, diligence, mutual trust, and good will but also on our thoughtfulness and general protection of our health.

I wish you all well in the upcoming academic year,

Michal Pullmann
