Dr Helena Confortiová passed away, a long-time colleague from the Institute of Czech Studies

A few days ago, our long-time colleague PhDr Helena Confortiová, CSc. from the Institute of Czech Studies and a lecturer at the Summer School of Slavonic Studies passed away at the age of 66.

Helena Confortiová, née Šindlerová, had started her educational career as a Czech teacher for foreigners shortly after the WW2 at the then study centre in Mariánské Lázně. She had taught for many years at the Institute of Language and Preparatory Studies at Charles University and collaborated with our institute (as a lecturer, opponent of theses, a member of examination committees) and she participated in 20 seasons of the Summer School of Slavonic studies as a teacher of the Czech language.

Helena Confortiová is an author or co-author of research works on the Czech language and primarily of time-tested textbooks of Czech for foreigners (for example, Seznam nejfrekventovanějších českých sloves, Čeština pro mírně pokročilé, Il ceco per i principianti, Češskij jazyk, Čeština pro pokročilé, Mluvíme česky…)

We honour her memory!
