New Issue of Linguistica Pragensia Has Been Published

This year’s first issue of the journal Linguistica Pragensia has been issued and pays tribute to two eminent persons. After many years, Prof. Libuše Dušková quits her position as the Editor-in-Chief. Her editorial team led this international periodical to a high impact factor in the database Web of Science (2010-2012) and reintegration in the Emerging Sources Citation Index from 2016.

The new editorial led by doc. Pavel Štichauer and Prof. Jan Čermák follow up on a strong tradition. In the section Obituaries, Eva Hajičová remembers one of the most eminent Czech linguists Petr Sgall who initiated the so-called functional generative description, drawing on Noam Chomsky and the theory of Prague Linguistic Circle. He also specialized in Common Czech and is the founder of mathematical, or rather computational, linguistics in the Czech environment which transformed into traditional cooperation of the Faculty of Arts with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics.
