Orchestra of Charles University Is the Orchestra of the Month

Orchestra of Charles University is presented by the European Network of University Orchestras as the Orchestra of the Month.

The Orchestra, where perfom also students and graduates of Faculty of Arts, is directed by chief conductor Haig Utidjian and conductor Kateřina Maňasová. It currently comprises of over fifty members, consisting of Czech as well as visiting students all sharing a common enthusiasm for orchestral music.

The Orchestra performs works by the great masters, including Czech composers, and their repertoire spans the whole spectrum from the baroque to the contemporary. They have recently performed pieces by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Rossini, Wagner, Dvořák, Smetana, Suk, Martinů, Iglo, Delibes, Fauré, Poulenc, Nielsen, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, and others – in Prague as well as abroad.

ENUO is an organization comprised of more than 130 orchestras from 16 European countries. The “Orchestra of the Month” presentation allows the readers to learn about the activities of the Orchestra of Charles University (and others).
