On 28 April 2018, the fifth year of the Open Square Festival was held on Jan Palach Square. Visitors could attend exhibitions, lectures, workshops, concerts, guided walks, and boat trips. All events were free of charge. The aim of the festival is to bring together all the different institutions from Jan Palach Square and the immediate vicinity and to animate this beautiful yet neglected square in the centre of Prague. The festival is organised by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University; Czech Philharmonics; Museum of Decorative Arts; Prague Municipal Gallery; Prague Institute of Planning and Development; Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague; Charles Bridge Museum; Prague Conservatoire; Municipal Library of Prague; and Rudolfinum Gallery.
