The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University announces an open competition for the following academic position at

Institute of Near Eastern and African Studies

Job title: Assistant Professor
Field and specialization: social, cultural and political history of the modern Middle East, preferably with emphasis on Israeli-Palestine conflict
Full-time position (40 hours per week)

Job description

  • teaching within the applicant’s specialization, primarily M.A. level courses will be expected
  • teaching at least one more general course
  • supervision of students’ projects and theses
  • conducting independent research program within the applicant’s areas of expertise
  • development of projects with external funding, aiming toward strengthening international cooperation

Job requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in the area of specialization
  • adequate teaching experience
  • ability to teach in English primarily within the applicantʼs interest
  • knowledge of at least one language of the region
  • adequate publication record in the field of specialization
  • PI experience in research projects and grants will be an advantage
  • academic experience in a high-profile foreign institution
  • organizational and communication skills
