The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University announces an open competition for the following academic position at
Institute of Near Eastern and African Studies
Job title: Assistant Professor
Field and specialization: social, cultural and political history of the modern Middle East, preferably with emphasis on Israeli-Palestine conflict
Full-time position (40 hours per week)
Job description
- teaching within the applicant’s specialization, primarily M.A. level courses will be expected
- teaching at least one more general course
- supervision of students’ projects and theses
- conducting independent research program within the applicant’s areas of expertise
- development of projects with external funding, aiming toward strengthening international cooperation
Job requirements
- Ph.D. degree in the area of specialization
- adequate teaching experience
- ability to teach in English primarily within the applicantʼs interest
- knowledge of at least one language of the region
- adequate publication record in the field of specialization
- PI experience in research projects and grants will be an advantage
- academic experience in a high-profile foreign institution
- organizational and communication skills
