Photo District News magazine has named her one of the best 30 contemporary photographers of the world. Ami is the recipient of numerous awards, including World Press Photo and Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding Reporting. In the late 1990s, she worked in Prague as a photo reporter. Ami has travelled to more than 90 countries and throughout the years, she has lived in mud huts and war zones — keeping true to her belief in the importance of “living the story.”  Since 2009, after shooting a story on the transport and release of one the world’s last white rhinos in Kenya, she has been focusing on wildlife and environmental stories. She is currently based in Montana and frequently gives workshops throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
