Institute of Czech Studies

The Institute of Czech Studies (ÚBS) at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague is an internationally recognized institute with a long and successful tradition. Both research and teaching at the institute are focused on Czech for foreigners and Czech as a foreign language. The Institute cooperates with many established academic bodies in the Czech Republic as well as abroad (e.g. Institute of the Czech National Corpus). Experienced staff members teach in the study programme Czech for foreigners, in courses for fellowship holders and post-graduates, in the Czech Studies study programme, ECES and other. The Institute organizes the prestigious Summer School of Slavonic Studies (in 2016 it will be the 60th year), international symposia on teaching Czech abroad, and it also participates in numerous research grant projects.
