Department of Logic

The Department of Logic carries out both reserch and teaching in the foundational and at the same time widely applicable discipline of logic, rooted in the Prague logic tradition. Research at our department reflects the interdisciplinary nature of logic and is concerned with its application in metamathematics, theoretical computer science and models of communication and social interaction. Main topics include research in set theory and set theoretical foundations of mathematics, research on axiomatic theories including arithmetic and theories formulated in alternative logical frameworks, and research in logical models of knowledge and information dynamics. Teaching at the Department of Logic comprises all academic degrees (BA, MA and PhD in Logic). The PhD programme can be studied both in Czech and English, the BA and MA programme is currently taught in Czech only.
