Department of Auxiliary Historical Sciences and Archive Studies

The Department of Auxiliary Historical Sciences and Archive Studies concentrates, on the one hand, on the education of future archivists and staff of cultural and historical institutions; on the other hand, it educates future researchers and editors of historical sources. Our BA and MA programmes focus mainly on auxiliary historical sciences, history of public administration, source criticism, archive theory, and edition techniques. These topics are also the subject of research projects undertaken by the members of the department. They participate in various projects and grants, publish monographs and analytical studies, and attend conferences in the Czech Republic and abroad. They also take part in international projects and serve as members of international committees and commissions (e.g. Comission Internationale de diplomatique – M. Bláhová; Comité international de paléographie latine – H. Pátková; The Medieval Chronicle Society – M. Bláhová; International Association of Agricultural Museums nad Agricultural History – J. Šouša; Gesellschaft fuer mitteleuropaeische Banken- und Sparkassengeschichte – J. Šouša; Eugen-Gutmann-Gesellschaft fuer Bankengeschichte – J.
