According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017, in nineteen subjects, the departments, institutes, and centres at Charles University rank among the best institutions in the world. The results of the international survey have been published on 8 March 2017.
This year, the global survey evaluated 46 subjects: 38 of these are practised at Charles University, but only 37 of them were able to meet the demanding criteria of the survey. While last year, Charles University was assessed as one of the best institutions in the world in 15 subjects, this year, the number has risen to 19.
In terms of arts and humanities, the following subjects have been most successful in the survey: English Language and Literature (146th), Philosophy (139th), History (177th), Linguistics (186th), and Modern Languages (202th).
